SaveByronBay.org FAQ

Q. What is SaveByronBay.org?
A. An organization to raise funds and develop sustainable communities in the Byron Bay region of Australia.

Q. Why Byron Bay Australia?
A. Apart from being our hometown, Byron has major issues and because of it’s high profile can teach the world by example.

Q. Where do you get your information?
A. Local sources and research backed up by fact checking with government organizations and reputable news media.

Q. What qualifies you to create an organization such as SaveByronBay.org?
A. 17 years working with non-profits, youth programs, and community services in Byron Bay and San Francisco which have similar problems caused by tourism and gentrification clashing with artists and local community concerns.

Q. How ill you build a sustainable community?
A. By collecting land and buildings, making them radioactive safe and eco friendly, then releasing them as low cost housing, work and retail spaces, and community facilities.

Q. What facilities do you plan that will help the current Byron residents?
A. Extensive bicycle paths, skate park for teens, and improve adult education, community arts and eco facilities, and after school programs.

Q. What can be done about the radioactive land?
A. Appropriate warning signs to be erected, then raise the buildings 10 feet, pave the land with waterproofed concrete, and then cover with 6 feet of top soil. This creates a barrier so that plants with long roots don’t reach the hot spots and contaminated water doesn’t leach to the surface.
